Job Description

Full Time | Mixed Practice with Country Heart & City Convenience

Greencross Strathalbyn is seeking a full‑time veterinarian who loves the variety, challenge, and connection of mixed practice without giving up access to great food, wine, beaches, and the city when you want it. This role offers the rare opportunity to work in a true mixed‑animal clinic, supported by a cohesive team and strong, compassionate leadership, just 50 minutes from Adelaide

Why Strathalbyn?

Strathalbyn sits at the centre of a thriving rural community, surrounded by farmland, vineyards, hobby farms, equine properties, and family pets. It’s a town where relationships matter - clients know the clinic team personally, and pets are genuinely part of the community.

Beyond work, the lifestyle speaks for itself. Think beautiful cafés, antique stores, country pubs, local wineries, and easy access to stunning beaches, forests, and the Adelaide Hills. You get the warmth and pace of rural life, while still being close enough to the city to stay connected.

A Clinic With Heart and History

Greencross Strathalbyn has proudly served the local community for over 40 years, earning a reputation built on trust, compassion, and exceptional care. The clinic is a place where clients truly feel part of the family and the team goes above and beyond daily, whether that’s through house visits, patient pick‑ups and drop‑offs, or simply making the extra time for people when it matters.

The clinic is also entering an exciting new chapter, with a newly renovated facility about to be completed, delivering a fresh, modern space while maintaining the soul of a long‑standing mixed practice.

Strong, Kind Leadership

Leadership here is calm, supportive, and genuinely people‑first. The combination of a Veterinary Director who leads with empathy and clarity, alongside a long‑standing Practice Manager who is the heart of the clinic, creates a workplace where team members feel safe, supported, and excited to come to work.

There is a strong culture of collaboration, generous knowledge‑sharing, and mutual respect, backed by vets with special interests in ultrasound, endocrinology and behaviour, and surgery.

About the Role

This is a full‑time mixed‑practice role, perfect for a veterinarian who enjoys variety and meaningful client relationships. Your days may include small animal consults and surgery, alongside work with production animals and hobby‑farm species.

You’ll be supported by a skilled nursing team and colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together. Rostering is approached with care, fairness, and open communication, ensuring work–life balance remains a priority.

What We Offer

  • Full‑time role with flexible, fair rostering
  • Rare opportunity to work in a true mixed‑animal clinic
  • Newly renovated, modern facilities
  • Unlimited internal continuing education and structured development pathways
  • One week paid study leave (convertible to annual leave)
  • Paid AVA or Veterinary Board registration
  • Access to VIN, Plumbs, and the Greencross Clinical Conference
  • Heidi Health AI to streamline notes and reduce admin time
  • Mental health and wellbeing support for you and your family
  • Staff discounts across Greencross clinics, specialty hospitals, and Petbarn
  • Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship for eligible candidates

Ready to Put Down Roots in a Clinic That Truly Cares?

If you’re looking for a full‑time role where your work matters, your team has your back, and your lifestyle improves, Greencross Strathalbyn could be exactly what you’re looking for.
