Job Description

Some vets love the rhythm and relationships of general practice. Others want more exposure to urgent and emergency cases. At Greencross Midland, you do not necessarily have to choose between the two.

Our multidisciplinary hospital brings General Practice and the Animal Emergency Centre together under one roof. You can build your role around GP, gain experience in emergency medicine, or work across both areas depending on your interests and confidence.

We are looking for a full-time or part-time veterinarian to join our Midland team, with flexibility around days and hours. This could be a particularly good fit for someone returning to clinical work, balancing family commitments, or wanting to broaden their experience without taking on a full-time roster.

Why Midland?

The hospital sees a varied caseload, from preventative care and routine consults through to surgery, complex medical cases and emergency presentations. Having GP and emergency services in the same location also creates opportunities to follow cases more closely and learn from different areas of veterinary medicine.

You will be joining an experienced group of vets, nurses and support staff who communicate openly, share knowledge and step in when the day becomes busy.

What the role could look like

Depending on your interests, your role may include:

  • General practice consultations and preventative healthcare
  • Routine and more involved surgical cases
  • Medical work-ups and ongoing case management
  • Exposure to urgent and emergency presentations
  • The option to develop your skills across both GP and emergency medicine

We are open to discussing a roster that works for both you and the clinic, including options suitable for parents returning to the workforce.

What you will receive

  • A clinical environment where you can continue building your skills without being pushed into a one-size-fits-all role
  • Heidi Health AI to assist with clinical notes and reduce time spent on administration
  • Access to internal continuing education, including seminars, practical workshops, webinars, short courses, modular programs and eLearning
  • One week of study leave, with the option to convert it to annual leave (prorata)
  • Paid AVA membership or Veterinary Board registration, plus annual VIN membership
  • Mental Health First Aid Officers across our clinic network
  • Free and confidential counselling through Telus Health, available 24/7
  • Discounts across Greencross clinics, Petbarn and a range of external retailers
  • Relocation assistance for eligible interstate candidates

About you

You may be an experienced GP veterinarian looking for a flexible role, returning to practice after time away, or interested in gaining more exposure to emergency medicine.

You will also be:

  • Comfortable managing your own consultations and cases
  • Able to work with a level of autonomy, including occasional sole charge
  • Thoughtful in your clinical decision-making
  • Clear and respectful in your communication with clients and colleagues
  • Interested in continuing to learn and contribute to the wider hospital

Qualifications

To be considered, you must hold a Veterinary Science qualification recognised by the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council, or have completed an approved pathway such as the NAVLE or AVE.
