Job Description

Veterinary Associate – Greencross Hornsby

Permanent Part Time | 1–2 days per week (Saturday availability preferred)

Greencross Hornsby is seeking a part‑time veterinarian to join our modern, well‑appointed clinic in Sydney’s Upper North Shore. This is an ideal opportunity for a vet looking for consistent hours, whether you’re balancing family commitments, returning to practice, or simply seeking a sustainable and rewarding workload.

A clinic designed for calm, efficient practice

Located on the mezzanine level of Petbarn, Greencross Hornsby is a bright, contemporary clinic space designed to support workflow, patient care, and a low‑stress experience for both pets and their owners. The elevated position within the store gives the clinic a quieter, more private feel, while still benefiting from a strong connection to an engaged and loyal client base.

Being co‑located within Petbarn also provides consistent foot traffic, strong preventative care engagement, and a steady flow of clients who value convenience and continuity of care.

Supportive, experienced leadership

You’ll be working alongside an experienced Veterinary Director who provides consistent, approachable leadership and a genuine focus on mentorship. This is a clinic where questions are welcomed, support is available, and clinical development is encouraged.

The focus day‑to‑day is on clear communication, sensible pacing, and ensuring the team can deliver high‑quality care without unnecessary pressure.

The role

This is a permanent part‑time position (1–2 days per week), with Saturday availability preferred

You will:

• Manage general practice consults and case workups

• Perform routine surgery (or continue developing surgical confidence with support)

• Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients

• Work collaboratively within a structured, supportive environment

This role would suit a veterinarian with around 2+ years’ experience who is comfortable consulting and looking for a stable, well‑supported part‑time opportunity.

Lifestyle and location

Hornsby is a major hub on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, offering excellent transport connections, shopping, cafés, and access to surrounding green spaces. The clinic is easily accessible by both train and car, with straightforward parking options and all amenities close by, making it easy to transition between work and life.

What we offer

As part of Greencross, you’ll enjoy:

• Competitive salary and permanent part‑time stability

• Flexible rostering to suit your lifestyle

• Structured support and mentorship from experienced leadership

• Unlimited internal continuing education and development pathways

• One week paid study leave (pro rata, convertible to annual leave)

• Paid AVA or Veterinary Board registration

• VIN and Plumbs access

• Heidi Health AI to streamline clinical notes and reduce admin time

• Mental health and wellbeing support, including 24/7 confidential counselling

• Staff discounts across Greencross GP and specialty clinics, Petbarn, and partner retailers

• Relocation and visa sponsorship considered for eligible candidates

Additional information

If you’re looking for a part‑time role in a modern, well‑run clinic with strong leadership and genuine flexibility, Greencross Hornsby could be a great fit.
