Burlington Veterinary Center (BVC) is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our growing, progressive hospital. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with clients, caring for patients, and staying engaged in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

We’re a multi-role, team-based hospital where team members are cross-trained and may move between reception and clinical areas throughout the day. What You’ll Do

Patient Care & Veterinary Support

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during wellness and sick-patient appointments
• Obtain accurate patient histories and communicate relevant information to the medical team
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
• Prepare exam rooms for appointments and procedures
• Assist with basic laboratory tasks within your training and responsibilities
• Support patient care and treatment as directed by the medical team
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas
• Help keep hospital workflow efficient throughout the day

Reception & Client Service

• Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
• Answer incoming phone calls and assist clients with questions and requests
• Schedule and coordinate appointments
• Check clients and patients in and out of the hospital
• Process payments accurately and efficiently
• Maintain accurate client and patient information
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners
• Coordinate communication between clients, veterinarians, technicians, and other team members
• Help create a positive, organized, and efficient client experience from arrival through checkout

Team & Hospital Support

• Float between reception and clinical areas based on hospital workflow and team needs
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, receptionists, and hospital leadership
• Support overall hospital operations and daily workflow
• Communicate effectively when transitioning between client-service and clinical responsibilities
• Jump in where needed to support teammates, patients, and clients
• Contribute to a positive, efficient, and team-focused hospital culture

What You’ll Bring

• Previous veterinary assistant or veterinary reception experience is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort moving between front-desk responsibilities and hands-on patient-care support
• Compassionate and professional client service skills
• Confidence working with pets and their families
• A dependable, adaptable, and team-focused approach
