We’re looking for a Full-Time Veterinary Technician Assistant (TA) Department Head to join our dynamic team at City Centre Animal Hospital! This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is hands-on, team-oriented, and eager to grow in the veterinary field while helping guide and support a strong TA team.

Leadership Responsibilities:

- Oversee and maintain TA team flow throughout the workday to ensure efficiency and patient care standards are met

- Coordinate and assign daily tasks and responsibilities to the TA team

- Create and manage break schedules to ensure appropriate coverage at all times

- Act as a point of support and guidance for TA team members during shifts

- Support onboarding and training of new TA team members

- Communicate effectively with leadership regarding workflow, staffing needs, and any concerns

- Lead by example in maintaining a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment

- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40 lbs on own.

TA Responsibilities:

- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures

- Restrain animals safely and humanely during examinations and treatments

- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, treatment area, and surgical suite, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies

- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information in the system

- Provide compassionate care to animals and excellent service to pet owners

- Assist in scheduling appointments and maintain the appointment calendar

- Assist in answering phone calls, emails, and other client inquiries

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various tasks as needed

Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Experience:

- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is required

- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is considered a strong asset

- Strong understanding of veterinary workflow and team dynamics

- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and common pet medications is beneficial

- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally

- Strong organizational and leadership skills with attention to detail

Schedule Requirements:

Must be available for a variety of shifts throughout the week that can include evenings and weekends. Schedules typically move on a monthly rotation but can be adjusted as needed.
