Job Description

Trans Ova Genetics is seeking a Veterinarian to support herd health, animal care, and veterinary services in Sioux Center, Iowa. This role focuses on providing veterinary oversight for gestation and young calf programs, supporting both Trans Ova‑managed and client‑owned animals within structured, protocol‑driven production systems.

The veterinarian will work directly with animal management teams and fellow veterinarians to monitor herd health, perform clinical evaluations and procedures, support reproductive programs, and ensure timely treatment of animals. The position also involves applying diagnostic tools, following established health and biosecurity protocols, and maintaining compliance with state and federal veterinary requirements.

This role is best suited for a veterinarian who values consistency, accountability, and teamwork, and who is interested in applying clinical skills within a production‑focused, technology‑supported environment. The position offers steady hands‑on veterinary work, collaboration across disciplines, and the opportunity to contribute to reliable, high‑standards animal care within a leading genetics organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with gestation and young calf teams to deliver high quality animal care through effective herd health, nutrition, and preventative medicine programs.
  • Provide consultation, training, and oversight on SOPs, animal husbandry, and biosecurity programs across Trans Ova farms.
  • Perform and support veterinary procedures including ultrasonography, pregnancy evaluations, anesthesia oversight, and specialized surgeries as needed.
  • Collaborate with Trans Ova veterinarians supporting donor, recipient, regulatory, and export programs.
  • Ensure prompt examination and treatment of TOG managed animals within 24 hours of reported need.
  • Support emergency and after hours herd health needs as part of the Veterinary Services Team rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal veterinary regulations, testing, movement documentation, and treatment protocols.
  • Serve as a technical medical resource for internal teams, clients, and professional service partners.

QUALIFICIATIONS

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
  • USDA–APHIS accreditation (current or eligible).
  • 3–5 years of experience in bovine medicine and surgery, or demonstrated strong interest and capability in this area.
  • Proficiency in reproductive and production focused veterinary procedures, including ultrasonography.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate, collaborate, and build trust across teams.
  • Commitment to animal welfare, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a farm or clinical environment.
  • Positive, team oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
