Job Description

Medical Director – Bowdon Animal Hospital

Bowdon Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into an established, well-respected hospital and lead a collaborative multi-doctor team through an exciting next chapter.

This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for someone who wants to build on a strong foundation while bringing their own leadership style, medical interests, and vision to the practice.

As Medical Director, you’ll remain active in the medicine you enjoy while serving as the clinical leader of the hospital. You’ll work closely with an experienced Hospital Manager, skilled support team, and dedicated operational and medical leadership to:

  • Set the standard for medical quality, patient care, and client experience
  • Mentor and support a collaborative team of four veterinarians
  • Establish and maintain clinical protocols and best practices
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager on team development, workflow, staffing, and hospital priorities
  • Serve as a clinical resource for associates and veterinary students
  • Help identify opportunities to expand services and strengthen the hospital’s role in the community
  • Participate in recruiting and onboarding future veterinarians

The Practice

Bowdon Animal Hospital is a beautiful, custom-built 11,000-square-foot facility with an established client base and a strong reputation in the community. The hospital offers a broad clinical caseload including preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, urgent care, soft-tissue surgery, emergency stabilization, and select advanced procedures.

The hospital is equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, advanced anesthetic monitoring, laser therapy, and a fully equipped surgical suite. The team also utilizes ScribbleVet and a paper-lite medical records system to help reduce administrative burden and keep veterinarians focused on patient care.

You'll have a healthy doctor-to-technician ratio and a collaborative support team that genuinely enjoys working together. Even better, the hospital is closed Saturdays and Sundays with no on-call or after-hours responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys practicing excellent medicine and helping others succeed. You’re approachable, collaborative, confident in your clinical decision-making, and ready to have a meaningful influence on the medical direction and culture of an established practice.

Previous leadership experience is welcomed, but we’re also interested in experienced veterinarians who are ready to take that next step.

Why Bowdon?

This is an opportunity to join a hospital with deep community roots, a loyal clientele, an established team, and the resources to support your leadership. You won’t be walking into a turnaround situation—you’ll be stepping into something that works and having the opportunity to help determine what comes next.

Bowdon also offers the best of both worlds: a relaxed, close-knit community while being just a short drive from Carrollton, giving you easy access to additional restaurants, shopping, entertainment, recreation, and the University of West Georgia.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150,000–$180,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus production
  • Up to $100,000 signing bonus
  • Relocation assistance
  • No negative accrual
  • DVM Long-Term Incentive Cash Program
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Leadership support from experienced operational and medical teams

If you’re an experienced veterinarian looking for an opportunity to lead without giving up the part of veterinary medicine you love, Bowdon Animal Hospital may be the next chapter you’ve been looking for.
