Veterinarian – Medical Director – Arvada, CO

A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide high-quality medical care while leading and mentoring the clinical team. This role combines hands-on general medicine and surgery with team leadership, clinical development, client communication, and practice compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive veterinary examinations, diagnostics, medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and explain findings and recommendations to clients.
• Maintain accurate patient medical and surgical records.
• Lead, mentor, and develop associate veterinarians and clinical team members.
• Provide feedback and support to improve medical quality, teamwork, client service, documentation, and efficiency.
• Support the development of veterinary technicians and assistants.
• Promote consistent, high-quality patient care and minimize patient stress and discomfort.
• Stay current with developments in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education.
• Oversee applicable safety, operating, and regulatory compliance procedures.
• Manage controlled-substance accountability and related records when designated.
• Support ordering, storage, inventory, reconciliation, and disposal of controlled substances in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Collaborate with veterinary professionals and practice leadership.
• Travel as needed.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Required professional credentials and licenses.
• Previous experience in veterinary medicine.
• Leadership or team-management experience preferred.
• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Compassionate and client-focused approach to veterinary care.
