Job Location: Lincoln, NE 68502, THE JOB

The Veterans Peer Support Specialist provides compassionate, non-clinical support to veterans and their families through our suicide prevention program. Drawing on lived experience with mental health challenges or recovery, this role builds trusting relationships, offers encouragement and one-on-one peer support, and connects individuals with VA services, community resources, and care. Responsibilities include outreach, assisting with screenings, supporting service plans, and documenting services to help reduce isolation, strengthen connections, and promote hope and recovery.

Qualifications: WHAT YOU HAVE

Required

  • High school diploma and two years of experience in with adults with severe and persistent mental illness
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Educated in recovery principles. Formal training in a state-approved peer support program preferred.
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist with the State of Nebraska
