University of Colorado AnschutzColorado School of Public Health | Injury and Violence Prevention CenterVeteran and Military Partnership CoordinatorPosition #: 00853159 – Requisition #: 41075 Job Summary:Join the Injury and Violence Prevention Center (IVPC) at Colorado School of Public Health as the Veteran and Military Partnership Coordinator (Research Services Principal Professional). This position is a key member of the IVPC’s Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership Team and will develop new public and private sector partners and support partnership growth among federal and private funders, military and veterans serving organizations, and additional groups interested in supporting lethal means safety, specifically related to firearms, efforts among these populations. As part of these efforts to engage multiple groups focused on this work, this position will facilitate meetings with various audiences, also organize annual convenings to bring together key stakeholders to build relationships and advance collaborative, non-partisan efforts, as well as provide other administrative and operational support to CU FIPI.This position must balance the input of varying military, Veteran, firearm industry, and public health constituents across the nation. This person must also be able to navigate the challenges of communicating on a controversial issue while respecting the diverse views and lived experiences of impacted communities and partners. Key Responsibilities:Support partnership growth with organizations that provide services or support to military service members or veterans to promote lethal means safety and firearm suicide prevention, to include travel necessary to the establishment of relationships.Identify and develop relationships with private sector partners (specifically firearm industry organizations or corporations supporting veteran and military lethal means safety efforts) interested in supporting service members and veterans in promoting lethal means safety and firearm suicide prevention.Serve as FIPI’s liaison with key funding organizations (e.g., federal and state agencies, national foundations).Support the development and dissemination of resources produced by FIPI and affiliated faculty to key military and veteran partners.Build and grow relationships with university and campus partners, including the CU Anschutz Center for Combat Medicine Research, as well as individuals and groups at other universities, to align and advance lethal means safety efforts among military service members and veterans.Build and lead the Colorado Firearm Safety Coalition, to advance its shared goal of educating about suicide prevention and firearm safety in Colorado.Support and/or lead presentations and community outreach efforts on effective and respectful approaches to lethal means safety promotion and firearm suicide prevention. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position and reports to the Firearms Industry Partnership Manager. Work Location:Hybrid – This position is located on the CU Anschutz Campus in Aurora, CO and is expected to work on site three days per week. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:A bachelor’s in public health, business administration, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.At least 3 years of professional level experience working in or in partnership with military or veteran serving organizations, or with military or veteran populations as part of efforts focused on suicide prevention and/or mental health. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:Background in the armed services and/or interest in supporting military and Veteran populations.Interest and experience in firearm suicide and injury prevention.Demonstrated experience with project management and/or event management.
