Job Description

Lead from the front. Develop people with intention. Redefine what exceptional emergency veterinary care looks like.

At ARH Greater Western Sydney, an uncommon opportunity is open to a seasoned Emergency & Critical Care veterinarian ready to take on a Clinical Director role built around one core principle: clinical work comes first.

This position is for a senior clinician who has mastered the pace and pressure of emergency medicine and is now driven to elevate others - to raise standards, nurture talent, and shape a culture grounded in clinical excellence - while staying hands-on where it matters most.

This isn’t about spreadsheets, stocktakes, or staffing grids. t’s about medicine, mentorship, and making a lasting difference.

The Role

As Vet Director - ECC, you’ll be the clinical cornerstone of our emergency service. Working alongside your team, you’ll lead by example - setting the benchmark in patient care while actively guiding clinicians through every stage of their growth.

Your impact will be seen in how you:

  • Navigate complex ECC cases with clarity, composure, and empathy
  • Coach and support veterinarians through case discussions, feedback, and in-the-moment teaching
  • Foster a culture where psychological safety and high performance go hand in hand
  • Develop and refine clinical protocols that reflect best practice
  • Help shape the hospital’s clinical direction in partnership with senior leadership

You’ll work closely with leadership on strategy and growth, while keeping your focus where it belongs: on people, patients, and outcomes.

The Hospital

ARH Greater Western Sydney is our purpose-built to deliver outstanding emergency and referral care in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

The facility includes:

  • IDEXX in-house laboratory suites
  • Phillips ultrasound and Siemens MRI/CT
  • A dedicated ICU and three fully equipped surgical theatres
  • Smartflow workflow systems and Pet Ambulance services

You’ll be part of a deeply engaged team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and high-quality patient care.

About You

You’re an ECC veterinarian who:

  • Holds a veterinary degree eligible for registration in New South Wales
  • Has 5+ years’ experience in a 24/7 emergency or specialty setting
  • Is clinically assured and trusted by colleagues
  • Gains real satisfaction from teaching, mentoring, and supporting others
  • Leads with self-awareness, consistency, and clear communication
  • Is ready to step into senior clinical leadership without stepping away from clinical work

What We Offer

  • A permanent, full-time Vet Director role with a competitive salary and benefits
  • Relocation and visa sponsorship, with pathways to Permanent Residency for you and your family
  • Additional paid parental leave and structured return-to-work support
  • Fully funded access to the Greencross Clinical Conference, including leadership and specialty streams
  • Your choice of AVA membership or Vet Board registration
  • Flexible, uncapped continuing education tailored to your goals
  • A role where your expertise directly influences people, culture, and clinical outcomes
