Vessel Operator M/F Contract Type PERMANENT Job Location Africa, Namibia, WALVIS BAY Working Hours Full time Mission Description Vessel Operator

Location: Walvis Bay, Namibia

Responsible for coordinating vessel port calls and ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective vessel operations while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize, oversee and coordinate all aspects of vessel port calls from berth bookings through to sailing and final account settlement.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, commercial, statutory, and port regulations.
• Coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, cargo operations, crew changes, and shore services.
• Monitor vessel obligations and ensure all requirements are met to avoid delays.
• Act on behalf of vessel owners and operators during port calls.
• Liaise with port authorities, service providers, suppliers, and clients.
• Solicit cargo and support business development initiatives.
• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, quality, and service delivery.
• Procure goods and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure accuracy of invoices and operational documentation.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Support marketing initiatives and new client acquisition.
• Contribute to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Profile Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Vessel Operations, Ship Agency, Shipping, Port Operations, or a related Logistics environment.
• Proven experience independently managing vessel port calls from nomination through to final sailing and account closure.
• Demonstrated experience in client relationship management and business development.
• Valid Driver's Licence with a valid PDP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant shipping and logistics systems.
• Sound knowledge of port regulations, statutory requirements, and vessel agency operations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of conscientiousness and attention to detail.
• Exposure to project management will be an added advantage.
