We are inviting applications for the role of Vessel Operations Professional Japan, a vital position within our Agency Operations division at CMA CGM JAPAN K.K. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless performance and management of our vessel operations within Japanese waters, aligning with our global standards of efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.

As a Vessel Operations Professional, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of vessels, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. You will act as a key liaison between the ship, port authorities, and internal stakeholders to manage schedules, berth allocations, cargo operations, and other critical activities that influence vessel turnaround and service reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently managing vessel schedules and movements to optimize port calls in line with service commitments.
  • Coordinating with multiple teams including port agents, terminal operators, customs, and other regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Leading investigations and resolving operational issues or discrepancies swiftly to minimize disruption.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation related to vessel operations, and environmental regulations.
  • Providing actionable reports and insights on vessel performance and operational metrics to management.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in container shipping or maritime vessel operations, ideally within the Japanese market or related shipping lines.
  • Strong understanding of port and terminal operations, as well as Japanese maritime regulations and customs procedures.
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills to manage multiple stakeholders effectively across various cultures.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to dynamic, fast-paced operational environments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English to facilitate communication with international and local partners.
