ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Operate and navigate the vessel safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and manage crew members.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and drills.
  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust navigation as necessary. d.
  • Maintain detailed logs and records of the voyage.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Communicate with port authorities and other vessels.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of the vessel.
  • Develop voyage plans and conduct risk assessments.
  • Handle emergencies and coordinate search and rescue operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in maritime navigation and operations of minimum 100 Ton vessel
  • Advanced certifications in maritime safety and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of maritime laws and regulations.
  • Proven track record of successful vessel management.
  • Experience with Electronic Chart & Information Systems Display (ECDIS)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate various types of vessels.
  • Advanced first aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with modern navigation and communication technology.
  • Valid captain’s license or OICNW
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Boat Captain
  • Strong knowledge of navigation and marine operations.
  • Ability to manage and lead a crew effectively.
  • Proficiency in emergency response and safety procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Good physical health and stamina.
  • Ability to pass a background check and health examination.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May directly or indirectly supervise ship crew for sea trials.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/ Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three or more years of experience as a sea trial captain. Valid STCW Certification. TWIC Card (preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The employee must be able to work in confined spaces and withstand extreme heat and cold in an outside climate or confined space.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, continual loud noise, and other hazards found in a heavy industrial shipyard environment. Rigorous compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements is therefore mandatory.
