Vertical Lift Project Engineer

This position is for a Project Engineer to work within the BDUK Engineering function, supporting the Vertical Lift (VL) Business Unit. This position is based in Yeovil, although Bristol and Gosport sites may also be considered as a home office location. Some UK travel between Boeing and MoD Customer sites is expected.

Position responsibilities:

  • Provide Engineering coordination to multi-disciplined Engineering functions supporting the UK Rotary Wing Enterprise (RWE) programme.
  • Develop and coordinate the execution of RWE core programme and 'Additional Tasking' Engineering Statements of Work (SOWs) to quality, schedule and budget, ensuring leadership interfaces are aware of programme milestones, objectives and performance status using suitable metrics.
  • Plan, identify, and coordinate Engineering resource allocation with functional leaders.
  • Compare actual results to the RWE core programme and Additional Tasking baseline plans, assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.
  • Manage Engineering Risks, Issues and Opportunities (RIOs), defining and executing the required plans for RIO mitigation and reporting RIO status at programme and functional RIO boards.
  • Maintain RWE core programme and Additional Tasking Engineering SOWs, managing any scope change impacts to programme baselines (such as deliverables, resources, cost or schedule) and coordinating these through applicable Change Control Boards (CCBs).
  • Foster collaborative working. Provide technical and programme integration with adjacent business disciplines to meet overall programme, business and customer expectations.
  • Contribute to Engineering Continuous Improvement across RWE programme and VL Project Engineering functional environments.

Basic Qualifications (Skills/Experience):

  • Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • A working knowledge of Programme Management and Systems Engineering Best Practices.

Preferred Qualifications (Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrable ability to coordinate teams, manage conflict and foster a positive, collaborative working culture.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience supporting military aircraft sustainment services and/or aircraft modification programmes from an engineering perspective
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
