Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Special Care Nurseries and the Neonatologist Vermont Oxford contact, is responsible for regulatory and data collection support related to the patient population birth- 18 months. Responsible for all aspects of data collection for the Vermont Oxford Network Database. Collaborates closely with Sr. Patient Care Application analyst, Database analyst, Vermont Oxford personnel and Medical Doctor contact. Translates data into actionable insights through collaboration with Neonatology and Special Care Nursery Leadership to support evidence-based practice, staff education, and quality improvement initiatives. Serves as a key liaison between data analytics and bedside practice to drive improved clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

1. Establish procedures for data collection and electronic data submission for the NSH Special Care Nursery database.

2. Develop a Data Verification Plan and monitor its implementation.

3. Complete and verify accuracy of logs, worksheets and data forms in a timely manner, and

electronically input data into designated VO laptop.

4. Submit admission information, and discharge information electronically according to VO timelines.

5. Submit 28 day data to the Vermont Oxford Network via computerized database, within one month of the 28th day of that patient’s birth.

6. Submit discharge data to the Vermont Oxford Network via computerized database within one month of patient’s discharge.

7. Submit transfer data to the Vermont Oxford Network within one month of the patient’s discharge from the transfer institution. Send forms to Data Analyst.

8. Verify that all eligible patients are included in the database, including delivery room deaths.

9. Verify that all data submitted to the Vermont Oxford Database conform to all Vermont Oxford Database definitions and conventions.

10. Contact Neonatology Associates, CHOA, and other transfer facilities for patient discharge information.

11. In collaboration with Neonatologist, design monthly reports designed to track data and trends in the Special Care Nurseries.

12. Maintain communication on NSH database with Vermont Oxford coordinator at network headquarters.

13. Update database as to changes which occur at network level.

14. Collaborates with Women's Services Leadership to report and translate VO data into targeted clinical education and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

2. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritizing and organizing appropriately.

3. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

4. Excellent analytical skills.

5. Advanced computer skills, including database usage and modification (at least one year of experience).

6. Prior healthcare experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing

2. NICU or acute care nursing experience; experience in quality improvement, data entry, or education
