
Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist – Neurology Clinic

We are seeking an experienced Verification of Benefits (VOB) Specialist to join our neurology clinic team in a remote capacity. The VOB Specialist will be responsible for verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits, obtaining accurate coverage information, and communicating with insurance carriers and patients to ensure services are properly authorized and covered.
This position will support multiple neurology clinic locations throughout the Texas market, requiring excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in medical insurance verification, benefits verification, healthcare eligibility, or medical billing, and is comfortable communicating with both insurance carriers and patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled services.
* Contact commercial insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance carriers to obtain accurate benefit information.
* Review and document:
* Eligibility status
* Deductibles
* Copayments
* Coinsurance
* Out-of-pocket maximums
* Coverage limitations and exclusions
* Referral requirements
* Prior authorization requirements
* In-network and out-of-network benefits
* Determine patient financial responsibility when applicable.
* Communicate with insurance representatives to clarify coverage and benefit details.
* Communicate professionally with patients regarding insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities.
* Accurately document verification results in the appropriate systems.
* Follow up on incomplete, pending, or unclear insurance information.
* Coordinate benefit verification for patients across multiple clinic locations in Texas.
* Work closely with scheduling, billing, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure patients are financially and administratively cleared for services.
* Identify insurance discrepancies and escalate issues when necessary.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all insurance verification activities.
* Protect patient information and maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
* Meet established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround-time expectations.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Bilingual in English and Spanish – required.
* Previous experience in Verification of Benefits (VOB), insurance verification, medical billing, eligibility verification, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
* Experience working directly with health insurance carriers.
* Experience communicating with patients regarding insurance coverage and benefits.
* Strong understanding of medical insurance terminology and benefit structures.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
* Ability to manage multiple patients, insurance carriers, and clinic locations simultaneously.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Comfortable working with computers and multiple software systems.
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
This position may be fully remote; however, based on performance and business needs, the position may transition to a hybrid work arrangement or remain fully remote.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with a neurology, specialty, physician, or outpatient medical practice.
* Experience verifying benefits for specialty procedures or diagnostic services.
* Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
* Experience working with multiple insurance carriers and payer portals.
* Knowledge of Texas healthcare operations and insurance requirements.
* Previous experience supporting multiple medical clinic locations.

This is a remote position supporting neurology clinics throughout Texas. The employee must maintain a professional and confidential home-office environment and be available during the clinic’s designated business hours.The successful candidate will be expected to consistently meet productivity, quality, and accuracy standards while providing a high level of service to patients, insurance carriers, and internal clinic teams.
Based on performance and business needs, the work arrangement may transition to a hybrid schedule, with the possibility of working from our office at Torres Moradas.
