Join us in Venture Banking as a Relationship Manager

  • In this key role, you’ll be responsible for growing and retaining profitable relationships within the Mid-Market Commercial Banking team, with a focus on high-growth and venture-backed businesses
  • We’ll look to you to build a brand that represents our high-growth team as the bank of choice for the innovation economy
  • This an opportunity to seek out and build a strong referral network through business activities, relationship development, and engagement across the venture and growth finance ecosystem

What you'll do

As a Relationship Manager, you’ll champion a culture of innovation and a customer-centric mindset. You’ll develop new business by acquiring new relationships and deepening existing ones, while acting as a trusted coverage banker to innovative and venture-backed companies as they scale.

We’ll also look to you to identify the top companies in the innovation economy and connect with their founders, key executives, and investors. Moreover, you’ll lead internal strategic discussions across all solutions, including credit, growth finance, payments, and broader commercial banking offerings.

You’ll also be:

  • Acting as the primary coverage banker for a portfolio of high-growth and venture-backed clients, building long-term, trusted relationships
  • Originating new business by identifying and acquiring leading companies across the innovation economy
  • Structuring and managing growth finance, credit, and cash management solutions in partnership with specialist product and risk teams
  • Managing credit, operational, and reputational risk within a regulated banking environment
  • Proactively supporting the startup and scale-up ecosystem through events, partnerships, and thought leadership
  • Maintaining an awareness of industry and sector trends, funding dynamics, and venture activity to identify opportunities for clients and the bank
  • Ensuring client acquisition and maintaining ongoing relationships with innovative companies

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with experience in the innovation economy and venture ecosystem who can bridge the worlds of venture and relationship banking. You’ll bring a strong track record of sourcing and navigating complex sales and financing opportunities, such as in commercial banking, venture debt, venture capital, or other technology-related services.

On top of this, you’ll need:

  • A strong understanding of commercial banking products and services, credit fundamentals, and risk frameworks
  • Experience originating and navigating complex growth or commercial finance opportunities
  • Proven capability in sales management and business development
  • Proficiency in building, managing, and deepening senior-level client relationships
  • Well-developed interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with senior business, product, risk, and control partners
  • A genuine interest in the venture ecosystem and the scale-up journey of innovative businesses
