PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To monitor, evaluate and report on Ventilation, Occupational Hygiene and Environmental conditions and make suitable recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (NQF level 4 Certificate) is essential
- Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control is essential.
- A valid code 08 or 10 driver's license with own transport
- 2 - 3 years working experience at the ventilation section is essential
- Trackless mine experience will be advantageous
- The successful candidate must have a valid medical certificate
- Medical Certificate or be medically fit to in order to obtain such certificate
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- Co-ordinating the activities of Ventilation and Sanitation crews
- Monitoring and controlling the installation and commission of the ventilation systems
- Measuring, calculating and reporting on the performance of main fans
- Planning, organizing, and monitoring work in their own area of responsibility
- Monitoring of the occupational exposure conditions regarding gas, dust, noise and heat illumination in an underground environment
- Monitoring and reporting on the installed engineering controls
- Monitoring of the environmental conditions and report writing
