Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Velocity Applications Engineer to work directly with semiconductor customers deploying and using the Velocity test automation platform.

This is a customer-facing, hands-on technical role focused on helping customers successfully integrate Velocity into their DFT, design verification, and production test environments. The Applications Engineer will work on-site with customer engineering teams to understand their test methodology, assist with implementation, troubleshoot technical issues, optimize workflows, and drive successful adoption of Velocity.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in semiconductor test, ATE, digital test, or DFT and is comfortable working directly with customer engineers in fast-paced development and production environments. Experience with AI methodologies, AI-assisted engineering workflows, or agentic automation is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface between Velocity engineering and customer DFT, design, product, and test engineering teams.
  • Work directly with customers on-site to deploy, configure, and integrate Velocity into their semiconductor test workflows.
  • Understand customer DFT and test methodologies and translate those requirements into effective Velocity solutions.
  • Support conversion and deployment of digital test content from EDA/DFT environments to ATE.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues involving test patterns, timing, pin mapping, test program integration, simulation, and ATE execution.
  • Analyze Velocity logs, test results, conversion output, and customer data to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Help customers improve test development productivity, pattern conversion performance, and first-time-right test deployment.
  • Support Velocity technologies including pattern conversion, REPLAY, test program automation, debug, compression, and related EDA-to-ATE workflows.
  • Work closely with internal Velocity software engineering teams to reproduce customer problems, define requirements, prioritize issues, and validate fixes.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI-assisted analysis, automation, agents, and intelligent workflows to improve customer productivity and accelerate debug and test development.
  • Provide technical feedback from customers to help guide Velocity product development.
  • Conduct customer demonstrations, technical workshops, training sessions, evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Assist customers during critical silicon bring-up, production ramps, and new technology deployments.
  • Develop application examples, best practices, documentation, and reusable customer workflows.
  • Build strong technical relationships with customer engineering teams and become a trusted technical resource.
  • Travel to customer sites as required and provide hands-on support during critical projects.

Qualifications

Desired Technical Background

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Semiconductor Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Digital semiconductor test
  • Design-for-Test (DFT)
  • Scan and ATPG
  • Siemens Tessent or similar DFT environments
  • STIL, WGL, EVCD, SVF, Verilog, or other digital test/pattern formats
  • Scan networks and advanced DFT methodologies
  • IEEE 1500, JTAG/IEEE 1149.x, IJTAG/IEEE 1687, or related standards
  • Semiconductor test program development
  • ATE timing, pin electronics, digital channels, pattern memory, and test flow
  • Silicon bring-up and debug
  • Test program correlation and characterization
  • EDA-to-ATE pattern conversion
  • Linux-based engineering environments
  • AI methodologies and AI-assisted engineering workflows
  • Large language models, agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation, or intelligent automation
  • Applying AI to log analysis, debug, root-cause analysis, workflow automation, or semiconductor test applications

Experience with Advantest V93000/93K or other major ATE platforms is a strong plus.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex customer issues and work systematically toward root cause.
  • Comfortable using Linux and working with engineering logs, scripts, configuration files, and large datasets.
  • Basic scripting or programming experience in Python, Perl, Tcl, shell scripting, C/C++, or similar languages is desirable.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, AI development methodologies, or AI-assisted software/engineering environments is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both customer engineers and internal development teams.
  • Comfortable working independently at customer sites while collaborating closely with a geographically distributed engineering organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency when supporting customer-critical issues.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer locations.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following will receive additional consideration:

  • DFT/ATPG implementation or applications engineering
  • Siemens Tessent
  • Advantest V93000
  • Teradyne UltraFLEX or other ATE platforms
  • Semiconductor applications engineering
  • Digital test program development
  • Pattern conversion and validation
  • Silicon debug
  • Production test
  • Customer-facing semiconductor technical support
  • EDA tools and semiconductor design flows
  • Generative AI, agentic AI, or AI-based engineering automation
  • Development of AI-assisted debug, diagnostics, test automation, or productivity tools
  • Experience integrating AI into existing engineering workflows and tools

What Success Looks Like

A successful Velocity Applications Engineer becomes a trusted technical partner to the customer.

The engineer understands both the customer’s semiconductor test environment and the capabilities of Velocity, quickly identifies technical issues, works closely with engineering to resolve them, and helps customers move from evaluation through deployment and ultimately into production.

The engineer should also be able to recognize where AI and intelligent automation can improve traditional DFT and test workflows, helping customers reduce debug time, automate repetitive engineering tasks, and make better use of test and design data.

The goal is not simply to support the software—it is to help customers achieve faster test development, first-time-right deployment, and successful adoption of Velocity across their engineering organization.
