Senior Developer, Common Gaming Platforms

As a Senior Developer, you will have a significant role in the product team working on Veikkaus Aggregation Platform. Aggregation Platform is a central component in the Veikkaus tech stack connecting the various game engines, platforms and backends in a flexible and automated way. If you enjoy the challenge of building a high-availability, generalised integration platform that is capable of massively decreasing time-to-market, then this will be a challenge worthy of your time and effort! The product is in active development with many core capabilities still to be developed. Given that, your handiwork will shape the product and, in many ways, you will be at the forefront of building a modern iPaaS solution.

We are looking for a person who loves problem-solving and thinking outside the box, who is comfortable with uncertainty and can break down complex topics to clear, easily understandable chunks. Your many years of experience tell you that technical excellence alone is not enough, but great teamwork, discipline and responsibility are key to success. You also bring your educated views – whether it’s about code quality, effective teamwork, DevOps or API design – to the table and stand by them while willing to let the best argument win.

Key competencies and experience

• Java (other languages are a plus)
• Databases (both relational and NoSQL)
• Cloud infrastructure e.g. AWS or GCP (GCP preferred)
• Extensive experience with modern API design and management, including RESTful principles, API security (OAuth2/OIDC), versioning strategies, and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Extensive experience creating clean, secure and performant code
• Experience with messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, or cloud equivalents like GCP Pub/Sub)
• Experience with DevOps, including Continuous Integration (CI), automated deployment, and test automation
• Experience building business-critical, observable solutions and maintaining them
• Experience with Agile principles and practices
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written

The position is located at Veikkaus’ headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. We work flexibly in a hybrid model. To foster collaboration and effective teamwork, we meet at the office three times a week.
