Job Description
Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Vehicle Maintenance Shop Helper supports the maintenance and operations team by assisting with preventative maintenance, basic repairs, cleaning, organization, and general labour duties in the shop and yard. This role plays an important part in keeping the vehicle fleet and other equipment operating safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is reliable, safety minded, physically capable, and eager to learn. Previous mechanical experience is an asset but not required.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist mechanics with preventative maintenance inspections and basic repairs
• Help with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the shop, tools, and work areas
• Support maintenance of Snowcats, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, and other equipment
• Perform general labour duties including lifting, moving parts, washing equipment, and site clean up
• Assist with fueling, lubricating, and servicing equipment under supervision
• Operate equipment and vehicles as trained and assigned
• Follow all safety procedures and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines
• Work cooperatively with mechanics, operators, and other departments
• Complete basic record keeping such as labour tracking or checklists
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
Qualifications & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous labour, shop, construction, or mechanical experience is an asset
• Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in equipment and machinery is an asset
• Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Able to follow safety rules and shop procedures
• Valid Driver’s License preferred
• No personal tools required (training and guidance provided)
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, crouch, bend, and perform physical labour throughout the day
• Good verbal communication skills and basic English comprehension
