Road & Rail Services is hiring Vehicle Handlers / Railcar Loaders to support vehicle transportation operations. In this active, outdoor position, you will safely load and unload new vehicles from railcars, move vehicles to assigned parking areas, and help prepare railcars for transportation.
This opportunity is a strong fit for dependable individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take safety seriously, and can follow detailed driving and loading procedures. Previous railroad experience is not required. Training will be provided to help qualified employees learn our processes and equipment.
Safely drive vehicles on and off multi-level railcars
Move vehicles to designated parking bays using assigned routes
Inspect railcar end doors and assist with opening and closing them
Help raise and lower hinged railcar decks
Position, inspect, install, and remove bridge plates between railcars
Use adjustable loading ramps during loading and unloading operations
Remove vehicle securement devices and store them in the proper location
Inspect work areas and equipment before beginning assigned tasks
Follow company and customer procedures when operating vehicles
Report vehicle damage, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns immediately
Maintain awareness of nearby vehicles, equipment, and team members
Wear all required personal protective equipment
Complete other duties related to vehicle loading and yard operations as assigned
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license when required to operate company vehicles or equipment
Must be able to safely operate different types of passenger vehicles
Must be dependable and able to report to work as scheduled
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and quality
Ability to work effectively as part of a team is required
This position is performed primarily outdoors in an active rail and vehicle-handling environment. Employees must be able to:
Work in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind
Work around moving vehicles, rail equipment, and elevated noise levels
Frequently climb ladders and work at heights exceeding 16 feet
Walk, stand, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
Properly wear all required personal protective equipment
