Reporting to the Vehicle Chief Engineer, the Vehicle Engineering Manager is a leadership position playing a key role in the planning and development of the vehicle concept, attribute targets, virtual engineering and physical development and validation. The role bridges the gap between technical design and business objectives, ensuring that products meet performance, quality, and cost targets

Key Responsibilities
• Vehicle Concept - In combination with the Package & Concept lead, perform an engineering leadership role from vehicle concept through to production release. Using the virtual series process, deliver compatibility and completeness through the development of engineering solutions which meet program targets
• Attribute Management - Lead benchmarking, attribute target setting and target cascade for attributes including Package & Usability, Dynamics, NVH, Aerothermal, Mass and Durability. Lead attribute balancing activities to deliver the customer requirements within the program and business constraints
• Cross-Functional Leadership & Vehicle Integration - Align engineering function teams (Body, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical) to ensure a cohesive vehicle design and resolve technical conflicts
• Engineering Delivery – Help manage the vehicle program from initial concept through to start of production, including the launch phase, ensuring all engineering requirements are met
• Prototype & Testing - Oversee prototype fleet management, build, and validation testing to confirm the vehicle meets all internal and regulatory standards. Develop component, system, and vehicle-level DVP’s appropriate to low-volume programs and affordability to delivery maximum re-use / efficiency / minimum cost
• Technical Reporting – Regularly communicate engineering status vs targets, technical issues and resolution plans to the business including the senior executive leadership
• Programme - Actively and constructively participate in planning and development of the program. Manage the engineering and development resources to support the program liaising with the Head of Departments. Assist in sourcing ESP’s and key suppliers, and robustly manage their delivery of cost, quality, and timing

Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, automotive, or motorsports engineering. Master of Science is preferred.
Experience
8+ years of experience in high-performance automotive engineering, with a proven track record of leading complex vehicle engineering activities from concept to production
Exceptional technical and organizational skills as well as a thorough knowledge and experience of benchmarking, target setting, virtual and physical verification, and DV planning and management
Key Competencies
• Deep understanding of vehicle architecture and attributes, the vehicle development process and the tools (PLM, CAE, and CAD systems) used to deliver vehicle programs
• Strong negotiation and "attribute balancing" skills to make trade-off decisions between competing performance, cost and timing targets.
• Relationship building and liaison across design, engineering, and commercial teams will be critical to success, as will strong technical management of Engineering Service Providers (ESP’s), test facilities, and component / system suppliers
• Ability to manage and track multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail.
• A successful candidate needs to thrive in a pressurized environment and be confident in applying both experienced judgement and data driven analysis to optimize targets and plans, identify and mitigate risks, manage resources, and solve problems quickly and effectively
• Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) at all levels of the business
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD skills would be a benefit
