Job Description

Sargent Electric is a leading specialty contractor focused on electrical, instrumentation, wireless, utility, and low voltage systems. Founded in Pittsburgh in 1907, we operate from 8 locations across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, delivering projects nationwide for our strategic customers.

We support the breadth of client needs — from routine 24/7 service and emergency restoration to their largest and most complex projects. Our proven safety record, technical depth, and longstanding client relationships have made us a partner of choice for Fortune 500 companies, leading general contractors, and EPC contractors.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative VDC Manager to lead digital construction efforts across complex electrical projects. In this role, you will oversee virtual design and coordination activities, develop modeling strategies, support project teams, and drive continuous improvement in digital construction processes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to enhance project execution from preconstruction through installation.
What You'll Do
  • Champion a culture of safety by integrating company safety standards into modeling practices, coordination workflows, and digital deliverables
  • Lead the development and execution of project-specific VDC strategies, aligning modeling efforts with construction schedules and installation sequencing
  • Manage, mentor, and develop internal and subcontracted VDC resources, ensuring consistency, quality, and technical excellence
  • Create and oversee detailed 3D electrical models, coordinated trade models, and construction deliverables
  • Drive coordination efforts with architects, engineers, contractors, and trade partners to identify and resolve clashes before installation
  • Serve as a technical resource for Construction Design Leaders, Project Managers, Estimators, Field Leaders, and clients
  • Support preconstruction efforts through the development of conceptual layouts, sketches, design alternatives, and quantity-based inputs
  • Coordinate modeled content to support fabrication drawing development and organizational fabrication goals
  • Participate in coordination meetings and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders
  • Help develop and refine modeling standards, documentation protocols, workflows, and software utilization strategies
  • Evaluate project performance and recommend improvements that strengthen digital construction execution across the organization
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of electrical installation practices, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and industry best practices
  • Travel to project sites, training programs, trade shows, and conferences as approved by leadership
What You'll Bring
Required:
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, coordination processes, and digital construction workflows
  • Experience creating and managing 3D models, coordinated trade models, and installation documentation
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing, constructability reviews, and clash detection processes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across project teams and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively within tight project schedules and changing priorities
Preferred:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success as a VDC Specialist or VDC Manager supporting large-scale or hyperscale construction projects
  • Proficiency with:
    • Autodesk Revit
    • Navisworks
    • Bluebeam
    • Revizto
    • eVolve
    • Allied BIM
    • Other related VDC and construction software platforms
  • Strong understanding of fabrication workflows and model-based construction practices
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and electrical installation standards
