We are searching for an outstanding VDC Field Technician to join our team. Candidates should possess an understanding of construction technology and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in construction projects.

What you'll be doing:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Laser Scanning

  • Perform 3D laser scanning of job sites for as-built documentation and quality control.

  • Process and register point cloud data for integration into BIM models.

  • Maintain scanning equipment and ensure accurate calibration.

• Drone Operations

  • Operate drones for aerial site documentation, progress tracking, and reality capture.

  • Follow FAA regulations and company safety protocols for drone flights.

  • Manage and process aerial imagery for use in VDC workflows.

• Robotic Total Station Layout

  • Assist field teams with layout using robotic total stations.

  • Verify accuracy of layout points against BIM models and project plans.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain layout equipment.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Modeling Assistance

  • Support regional VDC staff with basic modeling tasks in platforms like Revit or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Import and align point clouds into models for coordination and validation.

  • Assist in creating field-ready models for layout and verification.

• Data Management

  • Organize and upload scan data, drone imagery, and layout files to project platforms.

  • Ensure proper documentation and version control of VDC deliverables.

• Collaboration

  • Communicate with project teams to schedule scanning, drone flights, and layout activities.

  • Provide feedback from field observation to improve VDC workflows.

What you need for this position:

• AS or BS degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, or more than 5 years of experience in drafting, BIM content creation, and BIM coordination.

• VDC works sample portfolio and/or project list required.

• Advanced knowledge of BIM software applications: 3D Native Modeling (Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Infraworks), 3D Coordination (Navisworks, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360), PointCloud (Recap), 2D Drawings (Bluebeam), and Game Engine (Twinmotion and Unreal)

• Autodesk Certification is a plus.

• AGC CM-BIM is a plus.

• Adobe Suite (Premiere and After Effects) is a plus.

• Computational language: Dynamo, Python, and C# will be beneficial.

• Business Intelligence: Power BI will be beneficial.

• Training and education of VDC programs and processes.

• Developing construction process visual graphics and animation for field operation, marketing, and proposals.

• Basic project management and the construction process/workflow.

• Process-oriented, timely, and accountable to commitments/deadlines.

• Team builder attitude, self-motivated problem solver, active cross-communicator/facilitator.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, action-oriented, and effective listener.

• Familiarity with construction concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Some regional office travel is required.
