About the Role

We are seeking an Excel VBA Developer to build and maintain robust automation, reporting, and financial modeling solutions that support acquisitions, asset management, property management, and investor relations. You will transform data from multiple sources into actionable insights, streamline underwriting workflows, and improve reporting accuracy and turnaround times across our real estate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize Excel-based VBA tools for underwriting, lease analysis, cash flow modeling, budgets, and variance reporting.
  • Automate data pipelines: import, transform, and validate data from CSV/Excel files, SQL databases, and APIs; standardize property/lease/GL datasets.
  • Develop dashboards, scenario analyses, and templated packages for investment committees and lender reporting.
  • Integrate with real estate platforms (e.g., MRI, RealPage, Argus Enterprise exports) to streamline monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Implement robust error handling, logging, and performance optimization for large workbooks and multi-sheet models.
  • Establish version control, code reviews, and structured release processes for macros and templates.
  • Ensure data quality, compliance with internal controls, and protection of sensitive information.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing Excel VBA solutions in a business environment.
  • Expertise in VBA, advanced Excel features (Power Query, Power Pivot, named ranges, dynamic arrays), and workbook optimization.
  • Strong SQL fundamentals and experience connecting Excel/VBA to databases (ADO/ODBC).
  • Proven ability to build financial models; familiarity with real estate concepts such as NOI, cap rates, IRR, DCF, sensitivity tables, and waterfall structures.
  • Experience handling large datasets, data validation, and reconciliation across multiple sources.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to gather requirements and train non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Power BI and DAX experience for extended reporting; Power Automate for workflow orchestration.
  • Python or Office Scripts for complementary automation; familiarity with REST APIs.
  • Understanding of SOX/internal controls and audit-ready documentation.
