As a VAT Manager, you will be (co-)responsible for delivering a broad range of VAT advisory services to our international and Belgian clients
With a proactive mindset, you will act as a trusted advisor, supporting clients at key moments (such as changes in activities or business model, expansion into new sales channels or markets, and mergers and acquisitions), as well as in their day-to-day operations.
You will also contribute to improving their internal processes, including e-invoicing and the automation of VAT reporting (implementation and review of tax codes). In addition, you will support the further automation of our VAT compliance services.
What does a VAT Manager do at Grant Thornton?
As a ‘ trusted advisor’ you will be the first point of contact for our national and international clients;
You will assist our clients with all Belgian VAT matters and take on a coordinating role in aligning non-Belgian VAT aspects with our local VAT colleagues within the GT network
Within the scope of specific VAT projects, you will perform analyses aimed at VAT optimization, provide guidance to clients on implementation (such as setting up ERP codes), and conduct VAT health checks
You will deliver VAT technical training sessions to clients tailored to the needs of their accounting and invoicing departments.
During VAT audits, you will act as the primary point of contact for the VAT authorities and guide clients through the entire audit process, including support with potential VAT adjustments and requests for penalty reductions.
Collaboration with team members and colleagues from other departments is an integral part of your daily responsibilities.
Are you the missing piece of our puzzle?
You hold a Master’s degree in Economics or Law (Tax Law), or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Tax, or you can demonstrate relevant education and/or practical work experience by other means.
Additionally, you have at least 5 years of relevant experience in VAT compliance, preferably in an international environment or within the consulting sector
You are proactive in identifying opportunities and mitigating VAT risks.
You are a flexible and enthusiastic team player
You possess excellent analytical and solution-oriented skills
You have a results-driven and entrepreneurial mindset, combined with high attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility
You have solid practical knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI is a plus
You have strong communication skills in Dutch and English Knowledge of any other European language is an additional asset.
