Job Description

Responsible for assessing, formulating plan of care, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patient population requiring vascular access placed by Nursing Specialty Services. Is a leader and collaborates with the healthcare tam to promote a world class environment. Serves as a resource person for maintaining and troubleshooting vascular access devices.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Performs vascular access assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality and safe outcomes.
  2. Provides direction and collaborates with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  3. Collaborates with nurses and physicians to determine appropriate vascular access device selection and placement.
  4. Analyzes collected data regarding vascular access to formulate a plan of care that contributes to high quality and safe outcomes related to infusion therapy.
  5. Initiates a plan of care with measurable criteria consistent with world class performance levels.
  6. Evaluates the vascular access device plan of care with the healthcare staff, patient and family/support system to maintain world class levels of patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  7. Contributes to a high performance work environment by seeking educational resources that enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills including resources specifically related to vascular access.
  8. Apply for nursing council or committee and be vested on one council at least every 5 years. 80% attendance in person or by phone is required. Advancements in Clinical Ladder will be reflected in yearly application process.
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelors Degree in Nursing effective January 2017 (with the exception of staff previously granted grandfather status).
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing. Some areas may require a current and valid driver's license.
  • Experience: Graduate of RN Program. 5 years of hospital acute care experience.
