Role – Weight Management Engineer – Vans Product Portfolio
Key Responsibilities:
• Understand the complexity of the Vans product portfolio across development and series carlines.
• Understand the complexity of powertrain portfolios, including ICE and BEV variants.
• Ensure key weight deliverables are achieved across each DPT phase for development and series carlines.
• Perform weight estimations for given vehicle configurations using tools such as SMARAGD and DIALOG.
• Estimate weight impact for optional equipment, SA codes, for specific carlines.
• Create weight walks and waterfall charts to compare weight changes across carlines.
• Estimate weight change content during the early development phase.
• Ensure proper documentation of technical data in line with internal procedures and standards.
• Conduct benchmarking across different parameters to support target setting and challenge module groups for weight optimization.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Good understanding of vehicle weight management and weight estimation processes.
• Knowledge of Vans product portfolio, vehicle configurations, and powertrain variants including ICE and BEV.
• Experience in weight estimation, weight tracking, and weight change analysis.
• Working knowledge of Mercedes-Benz systems such as SMARAGD and DIALOG.
• Ability to create and analyze weight walks, waterfall charts, and benchmarking data.
• Good understanding of development phases and series carline requirements.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Good coordination and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and module groups.
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, B.E. / B.Tech.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Experience in automotive weight management, vehicle development, or product engineering.
• Exposure to Vans, commercial vehicles, ICE, or BEV product development.
• Knowledge of Mercedes-Benz development processes, internal systems, and technical documentation standards.
• Experience in benchmarking, target setting, and supporting weight optimization activities.
• Ability to work with global stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams.
