Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor; Van Driver Lead will help oversee a bus of 10+ employees as they conduct safe/efficient vehicle movement and parking. Lead Driver will help preparations on vehicles for various stages of logistics processing. Must be open to overtime.
Responsibilities
Primary
• Direct drivers to vehicles and their designated locations.
• Drive and park vehicles in accordance with the vehicle handling procedures when needed
• Must obey all traffic laws while operating the vehicle.
• Must follow a set schedule or route.
• Operate their bus while watching their surroundings to maximize safety.
• Maintain constant contact with the Supervisor and keep track of pickup and drop-off locations as necessary.
• Prior to driving vehicles, Van Driver Lead must remind and inform drivers to inspect vehicles to ensure that it is damage-free and functioning correctly.
• Must follow all Port traffic policies and posted speed limits.
• Any unsafe conditions or road hazards encountered must be reported to management.
• If their vehicle develops mechanical difficulties or sustains damage of any type, drivers must document the problems and report to management.
• Read and understand parking location maps
• Van Driver lead must immediately report all accidents or incidents.
• Assists in enforcing conduct and safety rules in the van.
Secondary
•Prepares vehicles for various stages of processing
•Performs various yard activities as directed:
•Performs tire pressure checks using a hand-held pressure gauge
•Performs battery condition checks using hand-held equipment
•Drives vehicles on/off conveyors
•Removes exterior/interior plastic protective wrap
•Drives vehicles to fueling stations and through automated car washes
•Remove trash from vehicles
•Complete checklists as required
• Perform scanning for various movement functions
• Perform vehicle spotting for other drivers or customers
All other duties as required
Compensation Range
$23.30 per hour
Skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to read, write and count
• Drive both automatic and stick shift vehicles
• Ability to understand and apply vehicle handling procedures
• Good depth perception and hand eye coordination
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma Required
• Supervisory experience Preferred
• 5 months to 1 year of experience Required
• Automotive experience Preferred
• Valid Driver's License Required

• Must be comfortable driving 3/4 ton van with employees on board
