Van Driver Job Description

New Freedom Transportation is a company that has evolved within the transportation industry to meet the needs of our customers. We provide Walker, wheelchair, and ambulatory transportation for customers through flexible, on-demand scheduling options. We are looking for drivers who are dependable/flexible and have a work ethic and strong interpersonal skills to transport clients to and from the day center.

Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

Available positions:

Drivers (PT)- Morning/Afternoon shifts available. Must be able to perform ambulatory and wheelchair trips.

COVID-19 considerations:
To keep our drivers and clients safe, both drivers and clients are required to wear masks during the transport, and drivers are required to disinfect the van after each passenger.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Van Driver: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Requirements

Responsibilities/Qualifications

Ability to handle a fast-paced environment

Professional and positive attitude

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Pass pre-employment drug screening.

Non-emergency medical transportation industry experience preferred (not required)

Working Smart Phone

Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record

Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods

Availability to work weekend shifts

Must be at least 25 years old

A polite and professional disposition

About Hope Unity & Freedom Center

The Hope Unity and Freedom Center is a diverse team of professionals providing psychosocial day support to male and female adults with a primary mental health diagnosis, dual diagnosis, and/or a coexisting disorder; such as substance abuse. All social workers are Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) & Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP). Our work helps to decrease psychiatric hospitalization and provide stabilization of individuals with less intervention in the community. By providing daily routine and structure in a safe environment each individual is able to achieve his/her best and improve his/her quality of life.

With our multiple facilities, The HUF Center has been able to reach out to many adults who demonstrate a need for psychosocial day support services. Our staff includes licensed clinical social workers with a combined total of over 20 years of experience. This includes program nurses, management, and staff. The HUF Center is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
