This is transportation work driving a van for the School District. It is a split shift part time
position with assignments that change daily. A van driver provides rapid response to
students to and from school on a regularly scheduled route, alternate sites during the school
day, after hours, and school sponsored athletic functions. Performs minor daily preventative
maintenance to the van as needed.
Essential Functions
• Provides critical support to transportation operations.
• Drives a passenger van to a number of assigned routes, picking up and discharging
students at designated location; transports students on field trips.
• Supervises or assists in the supervision of students’ behavior while in the passenger van.
• Cleans and maintains the passenger van; may assist transportation mechanics in the daily
maintenance of the passenger van which may include checking batteries, radiators and
changing tires.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of:
o the principles of automotive equipment operation.
o the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
o the component parts of automotive vehicles and their functions.
o computer based equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to:
o operate a vehicle safely and efficiently.
o perform light manual tasks if required by work assignment.
o understand and follow oral and written instructions.
o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
o complete and maintain vehicle records.

Minimum Requirements
