Job Description

To support our global growth and cost leadership ambitions, we are strengthening our Value Cost Management organization and are looking for a VCM Manager, Steering Wheels to drive fact-based End to End cost optimization across our product portfolio.

In this role, you will own cost modeling and cost optimization activities for one of our global product lines (Airbag, Seatbelt, or Steering Wheel), supporting Engineering, Purchasing, Product Line and Sales in making cost-competitive business decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Global Product Line Cost Leadership

    • Own and continuously improve the global cost modeling framework for your product line.

    • Develop and govern global should-cost models, cost standards, and methodologies.

    • Act as the global VCM focal point for product cost competitiveness

    Cost Modeling, Greenfield Costing & NOI Support

    • Perform greenfield cost calculations for core and standard components.

    • Support New Order Intake activities with Project Purchasing and Segment Purchasing.

    • Develop cost breakdowns and target costs to support sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, and business cases.

    • Validate supplier quotations and maintain product-line cost benchmarks

    Global Governance & Best Practice Sharing

    • Establish and lead a global product-line VCM forum to drive best-practice sharing and cross-divisional alignment.

    • Standardize costing methodologies, master data, and governance processes across divisions.

    • Coordinate cost model updates and integrate divisional best practices into global standards.

    Value Engineering & Cost Optimization

    • Identify and prioritize cost reduction opportunities throughout the product lifecycle.

    • Facilitate Value Engineering and Design-to-Cost initiatives with cross-functional teams.

    • Translate benchmarking insights into actionable cost optimization projects.

    Business Partnership & Analytics

    • Support Product Line, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations teams in strategic business decisions.

    • Present cost analyses, business cases, and recommendations to senior leadership.

    • Leverage digital tools and analytics to improve cost transparency, benchmarking, and decision-making.

    • Drive continuous improvement of cost databases and costing methodologies.

If you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in Cost Engineering, Value Engineering, Product Costing, Purchasing, or Manufacturing Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Cost Engineering, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), Purchasing, Product Costing, Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Proven expertise in should-cost modelling, greenfield costing, and product cost optimization.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier cost structures, and sourcing support.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills in a global environment.

  • Fluent in English; automotive industry experience preferred
