Move Beyond Reporting the Numbers. Help Shape the Commercial Decision.
Good Works Talent is partnering with a large organization operating in agriculture, manufacturing, and commodity markets to recruit a Value Chain Analyst / Senior Analyst for its Wichita-based commercial finance team.
This is a finance role that puts you close to the market and the decisions that create value. Supporting a commodity-based business, you’ll work alongside commercial marketers and partner across logistics, operations, accounting, and finance to understand changing market conditions, evaluate opportunities, and help determine what the business should do next.
The role can flex between Analyst and Senior Analyst depending on experience. At either level, the opportunity is to grow beyond executing analysis and become a trusted commercial partner with a point of view.
Learn the business and earn credibility. During your first 90 days, you’ll develop an understanding of the business, its value chain, financial and transactional flows, position and price management, and the stakeholders who influence results.
Develop a commercial point of view. As your knowledge grows, you’ll move from providing information to bringing recommendations. You’ll evaluate market movement, pricing, positions, risk, supply and demand, logistics, and value-chain economics and come to commercial discussions prepared to explain what you think the business should do—and why.
Create value beyond running the book. Roughly 30–40% of the role involves the core responsibilities necessary to manage the assigned business. The bigger opportunity is what you do with the rest: modeling an opportunity, improving a decision, solving a commercial problem, simplifying a process, or developing a better way to communicate information.
Use AI and technology to change how finance works. This team is actively experimenting with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, AI/Copilot-style tools, automation, dashboards, and AI-assisted development. You don’t need to be a programmer. You do need the curiosity to ask whether there’s a better way and the initiative to build or test it.
Become a multiplier. The expectation isn’t simply to become good at your own job. You’ll share what you learn, introduce better approaches, and help teammates and commercial partners become more effective.
This role moves finance closer to value creation.
The business operates in a global commodity environment affected by changing supply and demand, trade flows, geopolitical developments, logistics, pricing, and other external factors. That creates an environment where the answer isn’t always obvious—and where strong analysis and business judgment matter.
You’ll work closely with an experienced commercial organization. Over time, success means developing enough credibility to respectfully challenge assumptions, bring your own recommendations, and influence decisions rather than simply responding to requests.
The experience can also become a launching point for opportunities beyond traditional finance, including commercial and marketing positions, market analysis, logistics, technology, data and AI-focused work, and broader finance roles.
Your foundation could come from finance, accounting, economics, market analysis, entrepreneurship, data analytics, supply chain, trade support, or another business discipline.
Commodity or agriculture experience is helpful, but it isn’t required. Technical accounting expertise isn’t the primary objective either. What matters more is whether you can understand business economics, learn quickly, communicate clearly, and turn information into a useful recommendation.
At the Analyst level, you may initially spend more time learning from experienced teammates before independently leading commercial conversations.
At the Senior Analyst level, you’ll be expected to establish independence faster, confidently interact with commercial stakeholders, and begin bringing your own point of view earlier.
At either level, you’ll need productive curiosity, strong communication skills, learning agility, comfort with constructive challenge, and an interest in AI and transformation.
This role is based in Wichita, Kansas in a collaborative hybrid environment. A significant part of the opportunity comes from working closely with the commercial organization, building relationships, and learning how experienced marketers think about the business.
The team is tight-knit and highly collaborative. The environment works well for someone who demonstrates humility, integrity, and respect while also having the confidence to speak up, ask questions, challenge an established approach, and introduce a better one.
You’ll be given room to operate. The expectation is that you learn quickly, leverage the knowledge around you, take ownership, and increasingly determine where you can create the most value.
Interested? Start With What You’ve Accomplished.
Instead of simply matching your résumé against a checklist, we’re interested in the work you’ve actually done.
If you’ve turned analysis into a business recommendation, influenced a difficult stakeholder, improved a model or process, automated repetitive work, used AI to solve a real problem, challenged an established approach, or learned a complex business faster than expected, we’d like to hear the story.
Those accomplishments may tell us considerably more about your potential here than whether every keyword on your résumé matches the job description.
