We’re looking for a Valuation Controller to join Valuations Analytics & Reporting (VAR) within Global Product Control (Controllership), with a focus on Private and Less-Liquid Markets.

What you will do:

You’ll support the methodology, oversight and reporting of Fair Value and Prudent Value (FVPV) for Private Equity and Private Credit instruments held on the balance sheet. The role is initially HBCE-focused and contributes to the global Private Markets valuation agenda, including standardisation and governance initiatives led by the global Private and Less-Liquid Markets valuation team.

In this role you will:

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of valuation methodologies and underlying models used to calculate Fair value and Prudent value for Private Equity and Private Credit exposures.
  • Operate a robust control environment, applying sound judgement on valuation adjustments to support the accuracy of fair-valued financial reporting.
  • Ensure HBCE practices align with Group methodology, policies and governance, escalating issues and proposing solutions through the functional line.
  • Act as the HBCE SME for Private Markets valuation, providing informal governance/oversight (no direct line management) to extended production teams in Krakow and Bangalore.
  • Coordinate priorities, provide guidance and challenge, review key drivers/outputs, and ensure timely issue resolution with a strong audit trail.
  • Contribute to local and global change initiatives (tools, reporting, operating model improvements), including remediation delivery and simplification/efficiency opportunities.
  • Support engagement with Internal Audit, external audit (PwC) and regulators (ECB) on valuation topics, providing clear analysis and documentation.

You should apply if you have:

  • Strong experience in valuation control / product control for Private and Less-Liquid Markets, with expertise in Private Equity and Private Credit.
  • Strong accounting knowledge with proven application of IFRS in a valuation control context (French and/or German GAAP is a plus).
  • The ability to apply significant judgement on valuation adjustments within a controlled governance framework.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment (local + functional reporting) and influencing outcomes across teams and locations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including interaction with audit and regulators.
  • Interest or experience in standardisation, simplification, tooling and reporting improvements (digital/automation exposure beneficial).
  • Languages: English required; French preferred.

Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you.

What you’ll get in return:
