The incumbent in this position is responsible for safely handling guests’ and patrons’ vehicles to ensure proper parking, securing, and handling of keys. This position also courteously and efficiently provides parking tickets and/or receipts and collects parking fees from patrons at Valet/Coat Check window and lot locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Always display positive and professional attitude and presentation when communicating with guests.
  • Must be flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays with the understanding days off will fluctuate.
  • Responsible for the staging of guest vehicle.
  • Responsible for parking guest vehicles in the parking garage.
  • Responsible for retrieval of vehicles in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cashier work area in a clean, neat manner.
  • Remove trash at end of shift.
  • Collect appropriate amount of money in exchange for parking ticket/receipt.
  • Keep money and tickets neat and secure.
  • Assist guests with the checking in of coats, hats and/or umbrellas in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Issues claims checks for articles checked and returning articles on receipt of check.
  • Maintains cleanliness of coatroom.
  • Maintains hanger tickets to assure numbers are on correct hanger and hanger is in correct slot on rack.
  • Inform next shift of anything that may have happened regarding coatroom.
  • Reconcile daily cash drawers.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Attend seminars when needed.

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

High School diploma or equivalent required. The skills and abilities necessary for effective performance within this position are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or related experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

  • Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Illinois Gaming Commission.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.
  • Good driver’s record within the last 48 months and cannot have more than 3 points on record.
  • Must provide a current driving record.
  • Must be tolerant of moderate to severe weather conditions.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic math skills.
  • 10-Key calculator.

ABILITY TO:

  • Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Remain calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Present an image of excitement, enthusiasm, and outgoing personality, while being able to project a professional appearance.
  • Drive and handle cars of all makes and models, and all types (ie. Automatic, manual, etc.).
  • Must be able to address stressful situation with guests with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
  • Must be able to walk/run 90% of shift and stand 10% of shift.
  • Must be tolerant of running, stooping, and bending for long periods of time
