JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

Participate in the manual labor associated with the maintenance of the water system, sanitary sewer system, and storm drainage system.

Responsibilities

  • Clean sewer stoppages and flush sewer lines.
  • Responsible for the cleaning, preventive maintenance, and servicing of vehicle.
  • Maintains effective communications with the Lead Operator.
  • Perform work under the direction of the Operator.
  • Perform traffic control as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as required to complete assigned tasks
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule as required to perform the duties of the position.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and procedures.
  • Able to perform work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold rain).
  • Ability to use of tools and equipment required in job activities (shovels, squeegees)
  • To perform this job successfully, the person in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must have good communication skills; requires a calm demeanor in responding to customer questions/and or complaints and dealing with the public in everyday activities.
  • Ability to work within established guidelines.
  • Ability to perform repetitious tasks.
  • Ability to use and operate pick-up truck and miscellaneous power tools.
  • Participate as first responders in emergency situations (tropical storms, hurricanes, and tornados.)
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class C Texas State Driver's License and safe driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds
  • Able to climb ladders and stairways
  • Able to pass fit-test for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Must be able to access confined spaces
