Job Description

Under the Supervision of the VA Coordinator in Veterans Affairs, the VA Student Worker is generally responsible for assisting in the operations of the VA School Certifying Official. The following duties are responsibilities of this position.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Exhibit a clear understanding of the policies and procedures of the University and of the Office of Veteran Affairs by following the proper chain-of-command where any work-related issues are concerned.
  • Be knowledgeable in all aspects of Veteran Education Benefits as well as other key areas of the University.

TASK STATEMENTS

  • Answer incoming telephone calls from prospective veterans, veteran dependents, parents, and current students [Veteran population] that supports that University's recruitment and retention goals.
  • Work at the reception desk.
  • Answer incoming emails from the veteran population.
  • Arrive on-time to your assigned shift.
  • In the office and on official business outside the office, always represent the University and the Office of Veteran Affairs in a professional manner by maintaining a professional appearance, a positive and helpful attitude and a cooperative spirit.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the VA Coordinator.

Office Work

Student workers will be responsible for assisting the VA School Certifying Official in processing VA enrollment forms, data entry, answering phone calls from students in reference to VA benefits, answering emails from the VA inbox, filing student records, and speaking with students at the front desk.
