Job Description

Go far with IOR

IOR might be the greatest Aussie success story you haven’t heard of… yet.

From humble roots in Eromanga, QLD, we’ve been fuelling the furthest corners of Australia for over 40 years. You won’t see our logo on racing cars. Instead, you’ll be part of a team that helps fuel LifeFlight’s choppers and supports communities around the nation - real work with real impact that’s growing every day.

IOR is rapidly scaling its digital capability across onboarding, customer portals, automation and product innovation. We’re looking for a strategic, hands‑on UX/UI Lead to set the design direction of our digital products during a pivotal transformation phase. This

18‑month fixed term role will lead high‑impact initiatives that reduce friction, lift conversion and elevate the end‑to‑end customer experience across our digital ecosystem. This is a build role, not a maintenance role.

As our digital roadmap evolves, there may be potential for this position to transition to permanent.

About the role

Reporting to, and working closely with the Senior Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end UX/UI design process across our digital platforms. You will combine research, insight and commercial thinking to deliver intuitive, scalable and performance-driven digital experiences.

You will partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing and CX to ensure design outcomes are customer-led, measurable and commercially impactful.

  • Lead UX/UI design across onboarding, customer portal and digital product experiences, translating strategy into intuitive, commercially effective solutions
  • Maintain and evolve a scalable design system while upholding high standards of usability, accessibility and visual craft
  • Drive user centred design through research, interviews, testing, personas and journey mapping
  • Identify friction points and design improvements that lift completion, engagement and conversion
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs, collaborating closely with Engineering in Agile delivery
  • Use analytics, behavioural data and A/B testing to inform continuous optimisation and measurable commercial impact
  • Deliver outcomes such as improved onboarding completion, reduced friction and support contacts, and increased platform engagement

About You

You’re a strategic yet hands‑on UX/UI leader who thrives in ambiguity, brings clarity to complex problems and designs experiences that balance customer needs with commercial outcomes.

  • Proven experience as a UX/UI Lead or Senior UX Designer in a digital product environment
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating research-led, commercially impactful design
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools
  • Experience working within Agile product teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Data-informed and commercially aware

This is an opportunity to shape the digital customer experience during a high-growth phase, with the potential to continue that journey longer term as our roadmap evolves.

Why join IOR?

Approaching each day through our values of Innovation finding solutions, Our Communities serving people, and Reliability getting results, our team is focused on delivering what really matters to our customers. It’s this mindset that drives us forward. We’re about so much more than fuel. We’re about three key things:

  • Right Team: It’s the kind of place where you walk in the door and instantly know you belong
  • Right Track: We’re going somewhere, and as we get bigger, so do the opportunities to get stuck in and challenge yourself
  • Right Now: There’s no dragging feet or endless committees here. We deliver for Australia every single day

You’ll also be rewarded with a range of benefits, including:

  • Grow your expertise and career with access to experienced mentors and ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Team member and family discounts on fuel (obviously!)
  • Work hard, play hard with our Blue Squad social club – trivia nights, barbecues and plenty of laughs!
  • Plus salary sacrificing options, retail and health care discounts, Employee Assistance Program, and much more

About IOR

At IOR, we have delivered on the simple things that have kept our customers moving for over 40 years. Coming up with new ideas to solve everyday problems, sharing our success and growth with the community, and keeping our promises.

Since we commenced operations in 1984, we’ve grown with our customers, and we’ve been the fuelling force behind those industries critical to the lives of all Australians. Industries and businesses that put food on our plates, move goods from A to B, keep the lights on, and put a roof over our heads.

The secret to our success is in our people who know the importance of listening to our customers, delivering value, and serving our communities. Together, we can do anything. We get it done. We make it happen. And no job is too big or too small.

We’re proud to be the only Australian operated fuel supplier who has operations throughout the entire fuel value chain: a crude oil refinery, two import terminals, a growing bulk fuel delivery fleet, on-road and on-airport fuel networks, fuel infrastructure manufacturing, and proprietary fuel management technology.

Core to our business is our on-road refuelling network, serving the needs of Australia’s transport industry. Our first location opened in Winton in 2005, and today we operate over 100 locations.

Our 40-year history has been an incredible journey. And the journey is far from over.

A hallmark of our success has been the emphasis placed on listening and collaborating with our customers and communities to deliver what they need to keep moving. Where our customers have a requirement for which a solution doesn’t yet exist, we have filled that gap.

As industry’s energy needs evolve, we look forward to working hand in hand with our customers and growing together as we aim to serve more people, in more places by always offering better value energy solutions.

No matter what the future holds, IOR will be Fuelling Australia and keeping our customers going and growing for another 40 years.
