We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to join our Digital team and help create simple, accessible and customer-centred digital experiences for Aucklanders.
Working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, you’ll champion the customer throughout the design process – using research, testing and customer insights to understand their needs and translate these into intuitive digital experiences.
An initial focus will be supporting improvements to our customer booking journeys, looking at how Aucklanders find, navigate and book council venues, parks and other services. You’ll work across the end-to-end customer experience, identifying pain points and opportunities and designing solutions that make these journeys easier and more effective.
Day to day, you’ll conduct user research and usability testing, map customer journeys, and create wireframes, prototypes and designs in Figma. You’ll collaborate closely with peers, stakeholders and delivery teams to test ideas, challenge assumptions and ensure customer needs remain at the heart of decision-making.

You’ll have a good foundation in UX/UI design and enjoy getting beneath the surface of a customer problem and turning insights into practical, well-designed solutions.
You’ll be comfortable working across different stages of the design process, from discovery and research through to wireframes, prototypes, user testing and interface design. Figma experience is important, along with practical experience conducting user testing and using what you learn to inform and improve your designs.
You’ll be someone who enjoys collaborating with others and is comfortable sharing your thinking, asking questions and advocating for the customer. You’ll be able to build relationships with a range of stakeholders and use customer insights and evidence to help influence design decisions.
This is an opportunity to apply and grow your design skills while working on digital experiences that have a genuine impact on how Aucklanders interact with their city and council services. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Auckland Central, with hybrid working and flexible working options available.

Salary range: $88,528 to $104,150 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
