Do you want to be part of a vision that inspires not only us, but millions of players around the world? If you love the craft of building polished, beautiful, and functional player experiences, and you are ready to help us build something great, we would love to have you on board.
As a UX Designer on our unannounced game, you are not just designing interfaces. You are shaping the player experience of an ambitious new title from Paradox Development Studio, a team with a long track record of building grand strategy games with passionate, dedicated communities. Your work will be felt by millions of players from day one.
You will create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes of new interfaces, evaluate and iterate on existing ones, and collaborate closely with game designers, UI artists, sound designers, and programmers to deliver a highly polished product. Crucially, you will also be hands-on in implementation, working directly in the UI pipeline to help bring your designs to life, not just hand them off.
We are in the later stages of development, an exciting phase where designs come to life and the game takes its final shape. You will need to be adaptable and decisive, someone who is energized by seeing their work reach the masses.
3+ years in UX Design (or equivalent meaningful experience in a related field such as game design, UI art, or UI implementation).
Experience in the games industry is strongly preferred. If your background is outside of games, a very strong personal passion for games and ideally some indie development experience will be important.
Has shipped a game title, or at minimum been through a full Beta phase of game development.
Degree in UX, Interaction Design, or a related discipline is a plus, but demonstrated experience matters more.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Strong skills in wireframing, prototyping, and interaction documentation.
Proficient in Figma.
Thinks beyond convention, pushes for immersive and innovative UX solutions that serve the player.
Can clearly present and justify design decisions to stakeholders across disciplines.
Receives and gives constructive feedback, stands up for good design while remaining genuinely open to critique.
You are expected to work directly in the UI implementation pipeline, iterating on existing UIs in-game to achieve the best possible player experience. Coding knowledge is required to be successful in this role.
Experience with frontend markup or programming languages is required. This can come from formal education, on-the-job work, or serious hobby development.
Knowledge of XAML is a significant bonus.
Knowledge of C++ is an extra bonus.
Experience with the Noesis UI framework would be exceptional.
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming concepts is strongly valued.
A genuine, strong passion for strategy games is required. Grand strategy, 4X, tactical, and/or RTS.
Passion for Paradox Development Studio games is a significant advantage.
Interest in the sci-fi or fantasy genre more broadly, whether in games, books, or film, is a bonus.
You are someone who gets energized by the idea of shipping a great product and seeing players love it. You are collaborative by nature, comfortable brainstorming with designers, artists, and programmers, and you can make motivated decisions quickly when the situation calls for it. You are resilient under deadline pressure, and you take pride in seeing your work all the way through, from concept to final implementation.
You are not afraid to raise issues, and you do not wait to be asked. You bring a perspective that elevates the team, and you hold yourself to a high bar.
We are seeking new team members who enjoy working in a supportive environment and every individual is also given the freedom and responsibility to take charge of a task and to deliver. We care about quality and are motivated by the idea of our many fans around the world praising our work.
UX Designers thrive in a modern, creative environment, where our colleagues enjoy their jobs as well as the games we make. The perfect candidate will not be afraid to raise issues, continuously strive to improve, and seek to inspire their teammates.
At Paradox you will be part of a result driven, high trust and player-centric culture. Our games and players take center stage and our first priority is always to add player value.
