Job Description

The UX Designer (Level 2) reports to the User Experience (UX) Lead and plays a crucial role in contributing to the user experience design across various projects, including web and mobile applications, and stand-alone desktop applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Contribute to ACER projects, providing UX design expertise in alignment with project requirements.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, prototypes, user journeys and collaborate with UI designers to create high-fidelity designs that align with user-centric design principles.
  • Use evidence-based design methodologies and tools to inform user interface design and user experience activities.
  • Plan and conduct usability testing sessions and gather feedback from stakeholders to improve existing designs and validate design concepts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product owners, and developers to ensure a cohesive and user-centred design approach.
  • Effectively communicate design ideas and decisions to developers and stakeholders by substantiating them with clear and compelling evidence, facilitating a shared understanding of design goals.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, design specifications, and user interface guidelines.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and facilitate stakeholder involvement in the design process to support project implementation.
  • Maintain a high standard of design work and adhere to ACER’s policies, standards, and practices.
  • Undertake other duties as required as a team member of Information Technology.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in UX design, demonstrating an understanding of a user-centred design processes and proficiency in the elements and principles of visual design.
  • Experience working with design systems and creating comprehensive design documentation for developer handover.
  • Experience using common visual design and collaborative design tools.
  • Experience conducting usability testing and translating insights into designs.
  • Demonstrated experience actioning insights gained through user research and taking on board feedback from other stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically to solve complex design problems.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage a range of tasks with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including an ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing inclusive design practices and knowledge of accessibility standards and Universal Design principles.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Education
An AQF level 7 equivalent degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
