Job Description

Established in 2020, Riot Singapore is a game development studio focused on delivering great experiences to our players. We partner with our Los Angeles headquarters and Riot Games offices around the world to develop games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, and 2XKO. UX Designers at Riot Games craft player experiences through strong systems thinking, interaction design, and player-centered problem solving. They collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to shape usable, intuitive, and delightful experiences from concept through implementation.

As a UX Designer II (Contract) on the Teamfight Tactics team, you will help define and deliver in-game and around-game experiences for players across PC and mobile. You will work at the intersection of design, product thinking, and implementation, partnering with game designers, visual designers, engineers, producers, and QA throughout the production pipeline. This role is ideal for someone who can independently own meaningful areas of the player experience, navigate medium ambiguity, connect UX decisions to product goals, and translate complex requirements into clear, actionable design direction. You will be expected to drive feature-level UX from problem framing through implementation, balancing player empathy, business needs, and technical constraints while helping the team make better product decisions.

Please note that Riot Games does not offer relocation packages for this position. You need to be able to work legally in Singapore, without Riot Games' sponsorship, to be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Design high-quality UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models for Teamfight Tactics features and player-facing systems across in-game and around-game experiences.
  • Independently own scoped but meaningful feature areas, turning ambiguous product and design goals into clear end-to-end player experiences.
  • Frame UX problems by identifying player needs, usability risks, edge cases, and opportunities to improve clarity, delight, and product outcomes.
  • Translate game design goals and product requirements into intuitive experiences that align player needs with business goals and technical constraints.
  • Write and contribute to design briefs, feature definitions, flows, annotations, and behavioral specs that support alignment and high-quality execution.
  • Partner closely with game designers, visual designers, engineers, producers, and QA to ship polished experiences from concept through implementation.
  • Work with engineers to ensure UX designs are feasible, resilient across edge cases, and optimized for platform constraints on PC and mobile.
  • Review implemented work in-engine, identify usability or interaction issues, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve them.
  • Use player feedback, research insights, and product signals to refine designs and help inform future priorities within your area of ownership.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in UX design, product design, interaction design, or a similar player-facing digital product role.
  • Experience designing and shipping consumer-facing digital products, game features, or live-service experiences.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX fundamentals including interaction design, information architecture, usability, systems thinking, and clear problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own medium-sized UX problem spaces with limited oversight and drive work from discovery to delivery.
  • Experience translating product goals into detailed, testable UX designs and documentation.
  • Experience designing interfaces and flows for PC and mobile.
  • Proficiency with modern UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across design, engineering, production, and QA.
  • Ability to produce organized documentation and work effectively within structured pipelines and iterative production environments.
  • Strong understanding of how UX decisions affect implementation, readability, responsiveness, and overall player experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience designing UX for live-service games.
  • Familiarity with Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends, or comparable competitive game ecosystems.
  • Experience working on progression, events, store, social, acquisition, cosmetics, or other feature-rich player systems.
  • Comfort using player feedback, qualitative insights, usability findings, or live product signals to refine designs.
  • Experience contributing to design systems, reusable interaction patterns, or UX frameworks.
  • Understanding of implementation constraints within modern game engines or data-driven UI systems.
  • Experience contributing to feature strategy, research planning, or success-criteria discussions with cross-functional partners.
  • Experience working in commercial game engines is a plus.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
