Redwood Credit Union is seeking a UX Designer, who will deliver high-quality, user-centered digital experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with Redwood Credit Union’s brand and business goals. Serve as the subject matter expert responsible for the planning, governance and continuous improvement of RCU’s digital user experience across internal and external platforms. Independently evaluate, define and govern the evolution of end-to-end experiences across RCU’s digital platforms, translating user needs, business requirements, regulatory considerations and technical constraints into strategic and scalable solutions that support enterprise objectives.
This role is accountable for exercising independent judgement on matters of significance to drive measurable improvements in usability, engagement, and overall quality of assigned digital experiences and journeys. Success in this role is demonstrated by measurable improvements to business outcomes, clearer user journeys, reduced experience friction, improved usability outcomes, and designs and standards that are adopted across the organization and inform leadership and cross-functional decision-making.
o Own the design and execution of end-to-end digital experiences across key user journeys, improving clarity, usability, accessibility, and satisfaction as reflected in user feedback, task success, and usability findings.
o Analyze business needs and performance data to identify, prioritize, and validate opportunities to reduce friction and increase engagement, trust, and task success across key digital journeys, as demonstrated through research findings, analytics, A/B test results, behavioral data, and user feedback.
o Define, document and govern design patterns, interaction models, and interface standards that measurably improve consistency, accessibility, and brand alignment that enable scalable UX and component system (CS) adoption by design and development teams.
o Contribute to and influence the long-term vision and roadmap for user-centered digital products and platforms, providing feedback and expertise.
o Partner closely with product, engineering, marketing, compliance, and communications teams to advise on experience strategy, align requirements, and delivery so designs move efficiently from concept to implementation without rework or misalignment.
o Collaborate with developers to evaluate technical constraints and opportunities, ensuring recommended experience solutions are technically feasible, performant, and implemented as intended.
o Design responsive, accessible, and easy-to-use experiences grounded in UX best practices, research insights, analytics, and user feedback, applying professional judgement to resolve experience challenges.
o Create journey maps, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes as analytical and decision-support tools to articulate problems, solutions, and outcomes and support shared understanding and decision-making across teams.
o Apply information architecture principles to improve findability, comprehension, and task completion across digital platforms, making recommendations that influence how information is structured.
o Iteratively refine designs based on data, usability findings, stakeholder input, business priorities, and regulatory considerations to improve effectiveness, compliance, and user confidence in the experience.
o Present recommendations by clearly communicating design rationale and research findings to gain alignment and buy-in from stakeholders and accelerate informed decision-making.
o Create and optimize visual assets that enhance usability while maintaining RCU’s brand voice, accessibility standards, and visual consistency, in support of broader experience strategy and standards.
o Maintain a working understanding of RCU’s digital platforms to evaluate and recommend experience solutions aligned with system capabilities, constraints, and scalability needs to support sustainable, maintainable experiences.
o Recommend and lead platform enhancements, upgrades, and configuration changes in partnership with IT and vendors that improve usability, reduce friction, or increase consistency across platforms.
o Oversee and manage the design integration of third-party products to ensure a cohesive, intuitive experience across platforms.
o Monitor emerging UX, accessibility, and technology trends and apply professional discretion to recommend innovations when they demonstrably improve usability, accessibility, or maintainability of RCU’s platforms.
o Collaborate with third-party vendors to advise on requirements, resolve experience issues, deliver UX enhancements, and support the strategic platform evolution.
o Lead or contribute to special projects that advance RCU’s digital experience strategy and business objectives with clear deliverables and demonstrated experience improvements.
o Participate in committees and working groups to provide UX expertise and guidance on digital initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a combination of education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, graphic design, interaction design, computer science, information technology or related field, and a minimum of five years of UX/UI experience.
Experience should demonstrate independent ownership of experience strategy, successful delivery of user-centered digital experiences, platform integration, cross-functional collaboration, and discretion in improving usability, accessibility, and engagement across web and mobile platforms.
Compensation: Base starting range: $94,082 to $123,949 annually commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
