Main Objective: Responsible for User Interface test and development of medical devices, during product initiation, design, development, execution, and product maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs user interfaces for medical device consoles, touch screen panels, desktop, web and mobile applications.
  • Works with Product Owner to satisfy user needs for products, costs, and timeline.
  • Works with Tech Leads to ensure that handoff of designs is "developer friendly" which improves implementation time and meets developer requirements.
  • Ensures front-end performance of UX Designs are optimized.
  • Understands customer needs and key business drivers and develop solutions that effectively address both.
  • Helps define project requirements and develop user-centered designs to build best-in-class products and user experiences.
  • Designs and creates user experience architecture diagrams (site maps, task flows) and wireframes.
  • The ability to consolidate and translate research findings, team input, client needs/strategy and brand characteristics into authentic and usable interface solutions.
  • Helps maintain and evolve the Global Arthrex Design System to scale reusable UX Design components and live code repositories.
  • Works with UX Principal and product team to verify business, technical and user requirements are met.
  • Participates in research and design sessions with customers, internal users and key stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent visual design skills.
  • Experienced in using UX Principles and Laws to guide design decisions.
  • Executes and educates on design thinking activities, and human-centered design approaches. · Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Designs and conduct usability testing and has a deep understanding of what constitutes clean and innovative design.
  • Proficient in Sketch and Figma and knowledge of Principle for Mac, Axure, Figjam, Lucidchart, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Customer Experience concepts (VoC, Story Mapping, Journey Map, Metrics, etc).
  • Experience working on multiple products in Agile environments, advocates for best practices for UX in Agile, and documents process.
  • Experience creating complex interactive graphical prototypes (wireframes, detailed designs) and system workflows/diagrams.
  • Experience facilitating co-collaboration activities with Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Demonstrated contribution to documentation in design systems.
  • Knowledge of FDA and ISO Human Factors guidelines for the development of medical devices strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of anatomy from an orthopedic standpoint required.
  • Technical knowledge in development methodologies, design, and project implementation.
  • Experience designing and validating Software User Interfaces.
  • Experience with React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Design, or similar required.
  • UX Designer I requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience is preferred.
  • UX Designer II requires at least 2 years of experience with design sketches, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes required.
  • UX Designer Sr I requires at least 6 years of experience with design sketches, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes required.
  • Experience in software development and working in an Agile environment.
  • User-centered research and reporting.
  • Understanding and designing the relationship between the GUI, physical controls, and industrial design to enhance the overall user experience with an application.
  • Creating interactive animated prototypes.
  • Working on interfaces in the medical industry.
