Job Description

Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.

Position Summary: Design is evolving as AI blurs the boundaries between research, UX design, product thinking, prototyping and development. In this role, you will help shape human-centered design in an AI-native product environment, using AI-assisted and specification-driven development (SDD) practices while ensuring evidence, creativity and human judgment remain central.

You will solve complex healthcare problems involving interconnected systems, large amounts of information and decisions where clarity and accuracy matter. The primary focus is document interoperability—helping healthcare professionals find, review, understand and act on clinical information—as well as referrals and other cross-organization experiences.

Research is central to the role. You will work with healthcare professionals, practice staff, clients and clinical/domain experts, combining research insights with product and behavioral data to make evidence-based design decisions.

About the Team: You will be part of a collaborative team working closely with Design, Product, Engineering, clients and clinical/domain experts to create clear, accurate and usable healthcare experiences.

The team is exploring how AI can support research, synthesis, problem framing, specification, exploration, prototyping and validation. You will contribute to evolving SDD practices and critically evaluate AI-generated output for accuracy, evidence, bias, usability and human value.

Together, the team works on complex, data-rich healthcare workflows where users need to understand information, make decisions and take action across interconnected systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Use AI across research, synthesis, problem framing, specification, exploration, prototyping and validation as part of an AI-native design approach.
  • Contribute to evolving specification-driven development (SDD) practices and critically evaluate AI-generated output for accuracy, evidence, bias, usability and human value.
  • Help plan and conduct user research with healthcare professionals, practice staff, clients, clinical experts and domain experts.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, build rapport, listen closely and identify meaningful patterns from qualitative research and customer feedback.
  • Combine qualitative insights with product and behavioral data to understand both what users do and why they do it.
  • Translate research and evidence into clear problem definitions, workflows, experience principles and product concepts that help the team determine what to build and why.
  • Design understandable enterprise experiences, including user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes and detailed interface designs.
  • Design for document interoperability, referrals and cross-organization healthcare workflows, accounting for different users, dense information, edge cases and system constraints.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, clients and domain experts to evaluate trade-offs and build shared understanding.
  • Drive clearly scoped work forward, communicate progress and risks, seek feedback and take on increasing complexity as your capabilities grow.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of complex healthcare systems and workflows, even without prior U.S. healthcare expertise.
  • Apply human-centered judgment to determine where AI should and should not influence an experience.
  • Experiment with AI in research, design, prototyping, technical exploration and other creative practices, adapting approaches based on learnings.
  • Reason about complex systems, data, relationships, constraints and downstream consequences.
  • Use evidence to separate assumptions from validated insights and respond constructively when new information challenges your initial thinking.
  • Communicate clearly with users and colleagues across different disciplines, cultures and levels of technical knowledge.
  • Show initiative, follow through on commitments, seek feedback and maintain a high standard for the quality and consequences of design decisions.
  • Work directly with U.S.-based healthcare professionals and clinical experts as part of research activities.
  • Maintain planned evening availability in India when required for scheduled research sessions with U.S.-based users.
  • Continue developing UX capabilities and take on increasing levels of responsibility and complexity as your capabilities grow.

Expected Education & Experience

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in UX design, product design, UX research, service design, data, engineering, healthcare, psychology, customer experience or another related discipline.
  • Experience researching or designing complex, data-rich products and workflows involving multiple users, constraints and dependencies.
  • Experience in healthcare, health technology, fintech, insurance, enterprise software, logistics, security, data products or another systemic or regulated environment is valuable.
  • Ability to use qualitative research, customer feedback and/or behavioral product data to inform product, service or design decisions.
  • Curiosity about analytics tools such as Amplitude is valuable, even if you are not currently a quantitative researcher.
  • Ability to communicate ideas through workflows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes and/or detailed interface designs.
  • Demonstrated experimentation with AI in research, design, prototyping, technical exploration or another creative practice, with an ability to adapt based on what you learn.
  • Healthcare or health technology experience is a plus, particularly familiarity with clinical workflows, document exchange, interoperability, referrals or care coordination.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Business or a related discipline is welcomed; equivalent skills developed through practical experience are also valued.
  • We care more about the quality of your thinking, research instincts, curiosity and ability to grow than a specific job title or list of tools.
