Our Utility person - Mechanical works within a close-knit team to deliver on major works across all Australian sites on Caterpillar Gas and Diesel engines.
The key areas of responsibility for this role include:
Working on Caterpillar gas engines.
Reconditioning of Cylinder heads and small components.
Assessing parts for reuse and reconditioning engines and other equipment.
Supervising apprentices in training and teaching correct work practices.
Testing engines on completion of overhaul;
Painting and prepare engines for dispatch to site;
Involved in removal and installation of engines onsite
General housekeeping responsibilities;
Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations;
Support and comply with Company Policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors; and
Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as required.
Maintain the safety culture to a high standard.
Mentoring / training apprentices.
Travel to sites around Australia to undergo breakdown activities.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and the ability to demonstrate initiative. You will also need to have:
Mechanical Trade Certificate
Current Driver's License
Experience in diesel/ gas engines is highly desirable
Experience in Caterpillar, Deutz, Jenbacher or any large capacity engines is highly desirable
Basic computer skills
