Job Description
The Utility Worker supports daily operations by maintaining cleanliness, safety, and functionality across campus facilities. This role involves performing a variety of custodial, maintenance, and general labor duties to ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas
- Assist with waste removal, recycling, and disposal in accordance with university policies
- Support setup and breakdown of campus events, including moving furniture and equipment
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, reporting repairs, and assisting skilled trades staff as needed
- Maintain outdoor areas by picking up debris and ensuring walkways are safe and presentable
- Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a secure work environment
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with campus community members
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, or general labor roles is a plus
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
