This is an entry-level position and the incumbent works under the guidance of higher-grade employees. As a crew member, the incumbent performs manual and technical activities to support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. Major activities of the crew include, but not limited to, performing investigations and inspections; repair, replacement and lining of mains and service lines, laterals, taps, fire hydrants, valves, catch basins; etc.

Required Skills & Qualifications
One (1) year of experience related to or equal to work involved with repairing, maintaining water distribution and/or sewer collection systems.
Minimum Education Requirements:High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.Required Skills: Ability to grasp quickly the use of the full range of tools and equipment of the trade.Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Required Licenses & Certifications: Must possess and maintain current a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.Physical Requirements: The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 90 pounds) on highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine risks of exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution.
The position may involve periodic risks of exposure to raw sewage, chemical substances and physical trauma of minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns.
